Shapes

THE CUBE

Picture
A cube is a square box shape.
It has six faces. Every face is a square.
All these squares are the same size.
A cube has 8 vertices (corners) and 12 edges.

THE CUBOID

Picture
A cuboid has six faces and looks like a cereal box.
It is also has 8 vertices and 12 edges.

THE CONE

Picture
A cone has 1 circular face.
Its sides are curved.
Its top is pointed and so this shapes has 1 vertex and 1 edge.

THE CYLINDER

Picture
A cylinder has 3 faces and 2 edges but no vertices.
Objects that have the shape of a cyclinder are for example: tins of fruit, and toilet paper rolls .

THE SPHERE

Picture
A sphere is a perfectly round shape like a ball.
It has only one curved face, no vertices and no edges.
